12. Szpital Św. Jakuba - 7'17

Słuchając Pawła Szymańskiego utwierdzam się w przekonaniu, że gitarzystów dzielimy na takich, którzy potrafią grać, oraz na tych, którym tak się tylko wydaje. Paweł posiadł sztukę wydobywania dźwięków w stopniu co najmniej mistrzowskim, a ponadto jego muzyka, czy też jego twórczość jest tak osobista, że należy mówić o bluesach Pawła. Pierwsze moje zetknięcie z jego tekstami nie wypadło zbyt fortunnie, bo nie byłem po prostu przygotowany do ich odbioru. Wydawały mi się głupie i trochę naciągane, a ponadto pamiętałem go jako odtwórcę, i to dobrego, muzyki z Delty. Przełom nastąpił w zeszłym roku w Kłobucku, kiedy siedząc samotnie (tzn. bez przyjaciół) na widowni, próbowałem rozgryźć jego twórczość i wejść w jego problemy - nasze problemy.

Przyznam, że trochę zaskoczył mnie wywiad przeprowadzony przez Piotra Gwizdałę, gdzie Paweł jednoznacznie oznajmia, że pisze piosenki o sobie i otaczającym go świecie. Dotychczas uważałem, że opowieści zawarte w jego piosenkach to takie małe opowiadania zaszczepione otaczającym go światem, ale uważne wsłuchanie się w problemy zawarte w tekstach skłaniają mnie do twierdzenia że nie jestem w stanie przy tak głębokiej ich sferze emocjonalnej dokonać właściwej oceny. Bo albo „życie” jest tylko punktem wyjścia, albo analizą powinien zająć się psychoanalityk. Całość (na płycie) stwarza klimat „egzystencjalnej pustki”, „bezsensu zdarzeń” spraw dziejących się wokół nas. Już pierwsza “Uroda zdarzeń”, która zaskakuje pięknym brzmieniem gitary i dźwięków w stylu Mississippi Johna Hurta zaczyna budować atmosferę buntu, zwątpienia i poszukiwania czegoś ulotnego, co pozwala lepiej istnieć. “Za późno by płakać” to takie zderzenie bardzo chwytliwej muzyki z osobistymi rozterkami, które zmuszają do uważnego słuchania słów. To także jeden z najlepszych utworów Pawła, tak dobry że nawet nie analizując zawartych w nim treści, można upajać się jego melodyką, też zresztą w stylu Johna Hurta. Przyznaję że im dłużej słucham tej płyty, wiele zawartych tutaj problemów czy też pytań postawiłbym sam gdybym potrafił tworzyć. Bo ileż to razy sam sobie zadaję pytanie “co mnie tu trzyma?” takie samo, jakie pada w “Dokąd mam jechać, dokąd uciekać”.

I tutaj znów grająca niebagatelną rolę muzyka, której tworzenie wychodzi Pawłowi wyśmienicie. Rolę tak określoną, że gdyby ktoś zapytał mnie, prezentując anonimowo “Das Fenster”, kto stoi za tą grą, odpowiedziałbym bez wahania – Stefan Grossman, mistrz stylu fingerpicking. Dalej mamy ponowny nastrój melodyki pana Hurta (Niczyja sprawa), w którym pan Szymański widocznie wyraźnie gustuje, a dzięki stwierdzeniu “co ci do tego jak jest u mnie, to jest moja sprawa” staje się nam dziwnie bliski. Kolejny temat to szukanie winy nie w sobie tylko w przysłowiowym “Czarnym kocie”, bo jak można wytłumaczyć stwierdzenie “gdy cię poznałem, to był końca początek”. I tak dalej ciągną się rozterki Pawła mówiące o huśtawce nastrojów, bezsensie życia, samotności wśród czterech ścian, czy też przyznawaniu “to wszystko ja zepsułem, nie dawałem tego co powinienem, zapomnij o mnie”. Ktoś powie, przecież to wszystko jest OK, o tym w większości mówią tradycyjne bluesy - o cierpieniu, zwątpieniu, przegranej miłości. To prawda, ale nie chcę wierzyć że to wszystko wyrosło z osobistych przeżyć Pawła. By jednak nie posądzać całej płyty o propagowanie dekadenckich klimatów, znajdujemy tutaj dwa dość humorystyczne utwory “Miej mnie w opiece Św. McDonaldzie” o gastrycznych przygodach Pawła po odwiedzeniu takiego lokalu, oraz “Mój przyjaciel telewizor” z dość ironiczno sarkastycznym przesłaniem o zabieganych ludziach.

Tak mniej więcej wygląda zawartość słowno-muzyczna płyty Pawła Szymańskiego, której nie sposób opisać obiektywnie, bo każdy znajdzie w niej coś osobistego, coś swego, podobnie jak niżej podpisany. Często na koniec wystawiam własna oceną punktacyjną, lecz teraz nie jestem w stanie. Odpowiem wobec tego słownie – to dobra pozycja.
